Top five reasons why you need a holiday!
Dig out and dust off that suitcase now…

1. You need to destress, unwind, and stop thinking about work for a week.

Life is so busy now, that we all need time to switch off. Whether that means sitting by a pool or dancing the night away; you need to leave your worries behind, let off some steam and have a good time on holiday. A trip away is good for our health and a vital necessity, not a luxury. Our bodies need a break from the stresses of work and it’s important to get proper rest to repair and grow. Plus, it makes us more productive. Doing the same thing every day reduces our mind’s efficiency, so we need new stimulants to ensure we’re operating at our peak.

2. You need to spend quality time with your partner, family/friends or even by yourself.

‘Quality’ meaning actual fun and not sitting down in front of the tv with your phone or laptop in your hand. You need to talk, holidays are the best time for this, there are no distractions, and you can plan for the future without distractions. Tiredness and stress are instant sexual zappers. So, the best way to reclaim that intimacy and passion is to get outside of your four walls and out of being tired and moody. Or even taking time out alone to plan a trip and find yourself. By taking a break away you’ll appreciate all your relationships even with nature.

3. You need something to look forward to.

Even if your holiday is months away, you will think about it so often and it may get you through tough times by just knowing you will be lying on a beach or doing something new and exciting in the near future. I love nothing more than tucking into some great food over a nice glass of wine somewhere fabulous like a beach restaurant or lakeside cabin. If you want to enjoy a nice meal and savour those tastebuds, do it on holiday.

4. Holidays are good for your body.

Research shows that most people exercise more on holidays than during a regular working week at home. This may just mean a swim in the pool or a walk around the local town in the evenings but for most people this is longer than walking from the car to the office each day. Your body also needs vitamin D from the sun. So that occasional week in the sun is good for you, just don’t forget the sunscreen. You’ll come back refreshed, in better form and you even look better too. A healthy tan, a good night’s sleep, fresh air, laughter and relaxation, all things that holidays give you and let’s face it, we could all do with more of it! Regular movement also boosts your circulation, and we breathe better. So, find somewhere peaceful to chill out, turn the volume down in your head and become a nicer person. People respond to you better when you’re calmer and more relaxed.

5. Travelling broadens your mind and can also inspire you.

You may find that ideas come to you when you’re on holiday or you may simply find you appreciate your own life more when you get back. You need to try new experiences, sample different foods, or do something that you would not do back home. Remember you only have one life – live it! Feel inspired visiting places that move you and doing things that you’re passionate about. Sunshine, laughter, healthy food, exercise, fresh air is all guaranteed to have you bouncing off the walls with enthusiasm. So, whether you like adventure or a more peaceful break, make sure you take some time out this year to unwind.
