When people act on making their homes and workspaces feel and look better to them, they have a sense of feeling stronger, happier and healthier. Here are some theories and observations on why feng shui works. The practice of Feng Shui includes guidance on room planning for those creating a home by furniture placement, colour choices, sounds, inclusion of plants and other natural elements. Its goal is to optimise those energy flows and harmony between your home, family and guests.

Stress – creating an environmental sanctuary for the body to rest, relax and restore allows the limbic system to reset and become balanced. Stress can cause the body to produce an excess amount of adrenaline which then causes a weakening of the immune system. The benefits of feeling safe with a positive mindset about your environment may lower chronic stress, which can lead to a stronger immune system, lower depression and anxiety. The human mind is a powerful healing tool and can help stimulate recovery. As people implement feng shui into their home it can provide a positive direction for the body to stimulate healing and improve a sense of wellbeing. Theres a positive link between creating beautiful spaces and positive energy spaces.

Another benefit is better mental health, some potential advantages are improved mood, many factors can affect mood including lack of sleep. Feng shui in the bedroom has been shown to improve the quality of sleep. It also helps reduce feelings of stress and overwhelm which results in better wellbeing.

Take time to declutter, clutter is more than a distracting mess. It can block the flow of qi and prevent your life from moving forward. Minimalistic is best, get rid of anything which you no longer use. Only put up decorations that serve you to feel happy and calm. Everything else serves as clutter which can potentially bring you down.

Show gratitude, one of the core beliefs of feng shui is that everything has life. This includes your home and everything in it. Show your home gratitude for providing a healthy environment.

Be artful about artwork, any images you hang should be inspiring, uplifting or relaxing. Being thoughtful about how you arrange and use your home may help support a better outlook and a more balanced life.

Feng shui consists of the five elements each of which is said to have a different impact psychologically, affecting feelings of wellness. These are wood for creativity, earth for stability, fire for boldness, metal for focus and water for wisdom. Some people believe a home must have each of these elements in order for its occupiers to be happy. Start inviting abundance and positivity into your life today!
